Project Description
The implementation of Amazon Robotics technology at a sort center was a significant project that involved decommissioning and relocating multiple Intermediate Distribution Frame (IDF) cabinets, deploying and configuring various switches, cameras, and other equipment, as well as relocating heat sensors for the site. This project, alongside of the implementation of the Material Handling Equipment (MHE) expansion, was critical to the success of the sort center, as it allowed for increased efficiency and productivity in the handling and processing of packages.
The first step in the project was the decommissioning and relocation of the IDF cabinets. This involved the careful disconnection of all cabling and equipment from the cabinets, as well as the physical relocation of the cabinets to their new location within the sort center. The relocation of the IDFs required careful planning and coordination with other teams and stakeholders to ensure minimal disruption to operations.
Once the IDFs were relocated, the next step was the deployment and configuration of various switches, cameras, and other equipment required for the expansion of the sort center. This equipment included high-speed switches that provided the necessary connectivity for the Amazon Robotics technology, as well as PoE cameras that provided real-time monitoring of the sort center's operations. The deployment and configuration of this equipment required extensive knowledge and expertise in network design and configuration. This involved installing and configuring dedicated networking equipment, assigning correct VLANs, and addressing issues that came from a WiFi survey to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
